212a compatible modems


We are currently looking at replacing some telco modems with 212a compatible
modems from private vendors.  The leading contenders price-wise at this point
are the Prentice and General Datacomm (GDC) 212a compatible models.  (We have
also looked at Datec, but they were not competitive price-wise.)

Does anyone have experience with either or both of these?  Positive or negative
comments appreciated.  (Both will probably work most of the time, but special
interest will be paid to diagnostics, mtbf, etc.)
