I found an album of Telemann's sonatas for recorder and harpsichord which is excellent for this purpose. These simple two-part numbers are pleasant to listen to when you want to, and serene enough to drift into the background when you want to. The instrumental part is important; for some reason, I can't block out vocals. If there's someone singing, I just HAVE to listen (unless they're unintelligible, ) The speed is significant, too. Fast, exciting runs of notes have a way of being much more interesting than structure pointers. Scot
