Pepper grinders
Before you buy a pepper grinder, open it up.  There is a spindle that
connects the twisting head to the grinder in the base.  A high quality
pepper grinder usually has a brace across the mouth of the opening to
support the spindle.

If you are wondering why restaurants have HUGE pepper grinders, it's
because they don't want people to walk out with pepper grinders in
their pockets.  Smart, huh?  I know some people who try to protect
their software that way...
