I use my food processor quite often for meals we eat for only our own consumption at home, or for meals made for close friends who know us well. Were I cooking a "show off" meal, I would do everything meticulously by hand...the expense in time I find to be worth the effort. In general, I can accept a food processor as a useful machine that saves time without degrading the quality of the meal too much. I do *not* like microwave ovens, but that is a matter of personal taste. Most of the foods I like to cook suffer under microwave cooking. My one experience with a convection oven was *wonderful* and I have contemplated buying one of my own. Wokking is an art of its own and is more a matter of preference than of high tech. I find the results wonderful, but proper preparation of the food is extremely time-consuming, much like using a chafing dish.
