BASIC arrives
Users interested in using the BASIC programming language, note that we
now have a fairly decent version installed as "basic".  This is pretty
much ANSI standard with a few modest extensions.

Feel free to try it out, but be warned that serious computing with
basic grinds the system pretty badly right now.  Doing this during
"office hours" is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.  The problem will go away when
two key pieces of new equipment arrive, this month I hope.
