Adaptation WAS the way of life until man.  Consider handicapped people.
not too many years ago they would not have been able to cope and thus
their genes (which can't  be DENIED as a factor) would have died out.
In a strain of overly powerful PSI, depending on the ratio, nonpsi
would be phased out or artificially supported by the psi as handicapped.
Nonpsi would remain a significant part of society only if their numbers
remained proportional to the  strength of PSI's powers.  In this case
there would be racial wars, prejudice, and tyranny.  For a good description
read Kathrine Kurtz's Deryni books.

As for cooperation, among the intelligent, yes, among the masses, worse
fear and hatred than we currently have racially.
