Adaptation of man

It seems to me that you are overlooking the possibility of adaptation in
a less strict (er?) sense...That is, the adaptation of man to a technological
society.  It seems reasonable that adaptation not require "gene-death" of
a particular person via physical death.  Social death (if such a thing
exists) could/might account for gene-death in a very different manner than
physical-death.  Other things to be considered are "Modern" diseases
(cancer for instance) which might account for adaptation.....Just some
thoughts by an ameture.
