Since when is the theory of special relativity a "law of nature?"
Quantum theorists have been questioning the restrictions on
the speed of light (as posed in the special theory) ever since
experimental evidence indicated that something about the "true"
nature of local reality was incompatible with the theory. Cf. Bell's
Theorem.
