It has been replaced and is now in service in Wern's lab. The mountings of the two sets of floppies aren't in fact incompatible, just more complicated than they look. An examination of the inner workings of the floppy drives indicates that it is better to leave the doors open when they are not in use -- fewer things are left rotating that way. One other note to floppy users: whenever your disk is in the drive with the door closed, it is rotating and hence subject to wear. This applies whether or not you are actually accessing it, although accessing does increase wear somewhat.
