hardware installation
Tentative plans for installation of the first arrivals of our new hardware
are as follows.

The new modem will be installed as soon as possible, probably tonight.
5121 may not be available as a dialup for a few days until we get some
hardware and software hassles straightened out.

Installation of the floating-point processor will be deferred a few days.
Its speedup effect on serious computing will not be seriously felt until
we get and install the new memory, so there is no great rush.  The specific
reasons for deferral are to let Dave Trueman have a chance to compose a
couple of simple benchmarks (the speedup this thing will produce will
definitely be considerable, but I'm curious to see some numbers) and to
let me have one more chance at running down a subtle bug in the software
floating-point simulator we use now.
