As for your insightful analogy, I suggest that your complaints are
more on the level of pets leaving hairs on your mailbox.  I would
raise my mailbox off of the ground.  I would also be a little more patient
concerning problems with neighbors and pets.  I can expect the pets
to be trained.  On the other hand I find it much more of a concern
when my neighbor barfs all over some poor innocent pet because neither
the pet nor the neighbor can control themselves.
