Normally, a business monopoly can only coerce people by refusing to deal with them. A government can and will coerce peoply by force (of arms if necessary). One of the greatest drawbacks to a free society like that in this continent is that the so-called representative governments are just gigantic self- perpetuating bureaucracies. These organisms spend most of their energy keeping the organization growing, and never, never produce anything. They are consumers of the major slice of the GNP which is created by the traders and manufacturers and farmers and miners and ... Naturally, since all this great consumer does is sit and leech off the body politic, it is in its interest to make the rules. Here in Canada, we have the same problems, but in a parliamentary system you can sometimes throw the top level out and get a new set of fools and jesters. The snivel serpents, however, are always with us.... *sigh* end of sympathietic flame.
