High Radiation in Space Could Hurt Space Station
Scientists, analyzing data from STS-3, say that, while the shuttle
is neither big enough nor does it stay up long enough to attract
a lot of radiation, large station that will stay up for years could
get big doses.  The problems come when ions are converted into
electrons and x-rays are produced.  They could be harmful to life
and also to electrical circuits.  This is one of the many things
NASA must consider before launching a station.
