Aficionados of the network news will have noticed that last night's batch
was most unusually small.  The reason is not hard to pin down:  Duke has
received no traffic from Berkeley in the last several days.  Berkeley
is where much of the normal netnews makes the jump between the Arpanet
and Usenet.  WHY there has been nothing from Berkeley is another matter.
There appear to be three possibilities:

	1. Berkeley ucbarpa or ucbvax (the systems with the Arpanet and
		Usenet ports respectively) is broken.
	2. Some of the compulsive code changers at Berkeley, in their
		never-ending diddling, have managed to break the news
		system there so it is incommunicado.
	3. The decvax system, the major East-West link in Usenet, is
		broken.

I would put a small amount of money on #2, although the others remain
possible.  Nothing to do except wait and see.
