state of the Unix, cont.
Now running with a very slightly trimmed system.  No Star Ring, no card
reader, no paper tape, otherwise roughly identical to the production
system.  The Unibus is terminated in the expansion box.  The card reader
and papertape reader interface, as well as the two DLs, are on the bus
but not connected to their devices.  The magtape drive has been moved
to a position above the cpu to bring the complete Unix configuration
into the two wheeled racks.

/etc/ttys.336 is the old /etc/ttys.  The new one reflects the layout
of the room.  The last letter of the "location" code gives the position
of a terminal in its row (n, s, e, w, c [center]), the previous letters
give the position of the row (n, e, ec, C, wc, w).  The tty numbering
is geographical, starting by the console, working along the east and
north walls, and then zigzagging along the north-south rows.  Tty
numbers have been left for all plausible terminal locations.  Some ttys
are in position but not yet connected due to cable shortages.
