GRIPES/SEND
Send (and news) is IMPOSSIBLY slow!
We established a policy to alert one another about
(recurrent) problems via gripes; one is NOT encouraged
to do so by the 10-15 min it can take to send a short
(and garbled???) complaint... Nor is one encouraged
to read the news (probably few out there in the user world
do anyway, by now..). Is there no simple solution, Henry?
E.g. do we need everything from year 1 in the news files?
Could not old stuff be put somewhere innocuous?

PS The garbled gripes started something like:

The nroff request '.tl' can be useful for headings.
Unfortunately, if occurring as the first line, it works
with its own private concept of default line length.
This being 66, it looks sorta funny when our default LL
is 78! Placing even a .SP before corrects this - but that's
obscure (I believe there is something in the top pf page
macro which straightens things out...)...
