>From a New York Times News Service article that appeared in the Sunday
Raleigh News and Observer:

	* sources say NASA is asking for $300-$500 million more than
	the $1.6 billion originally projected for the shuttle for 1983.

	* since there will be at best a modest increase in the $6 billion
	budget for 1982, things look bleak.

	* The Halley's comet mission looks unlikely; the Galileo orbiter
	of Jupiter may be delayed past 1985 (partly a technical issue --
	what upper stage should be used?); only the Large Space Telescope
	looks safe.

	* Engineers at the Kennedy Space Center doubt that it will ever
	be possible to refly a shuttle only two weeks after landing.
