If the teleray with meta key sets the high order bit in the
character sent, one of your problems will be that to send 8 bits
of input you will need to use the tip command @binary input
start.  Once you do, you won't be able to close the connection
locally or give any other tip commands.  You will have to hang up
after your connection closes to cause the port to be reset.  If
it is not a hunting port, you will have to dial another port
and use the @nn R command.
