I don't remember the details offhand (there was a talk at Crypto 82 about it, but I don't have the extended abstract at hand) but if you iterated the encryption method, Shamir's attack would fail. Adelman claims to have gotten around this; again I don't know details. As far as I know, RSA is still secure if you pick your numbers right.
