An interesting sidelight on the issue of whether students should be
required to buy computers:  in a recent issue of Science, there was
an ad for a book on dynamics which indicated that the way you got to
look at the full-color illustrations for the book was to stuff a
floppy into your Apple.  Obscure publisher and otherwise probably
not of interest in itself -- but the idea is fascinating, and has
wide implications.  There would seem to be quite a number of areas
where dynamic full-color illustrations could add a lot to a text...
