I've never been 'involved with' anyone who *did* know how to program a computer, even though I have been for ~10 years. I attribute this to the relatively small number of female type programmers more than personal preference. But in answer to your question, I think that professional people whose jobs don't involve meeting the (mythical?) public tend to cluster; moreover, this is just a function of whom we meet rather than "common interests" or a "hacker's lifestyle" or anything like that. brian sytek of sunnyvale
