Relatively new in the NY area are personal ads via the telephone.
To place an ad you call up and record your ad.
There is a separate number to call to hear ads placed by men and woman.

I have not tried this but I have called and listened to some ads.
The three I know about are (all in NYC):

When you call to listen to pre-recorded ads you are given
a message about how to answer and a number to call to place
