In the last few weeks people have declared their sexual preferences, talked about their problems with the opposite sex, even advertised their lonelyness. I'm looking forward to what's next (who knows?). 2- Ever notice how computer hackers (along with being hung up on sex) have absolutely no sense of humor? I'll even bet they will take me serious on this one. 3- I really am against people having to sign their names to netnews. I mean, that is one of the best points about the net. People can exchange ideas without others having any preconceived notions about them because of their sex, age, position, handicaps or anything else. Can't people out there deal with ideas by their own face value, or are we too far gone for that? Does it matter whether I am male or female (who thinks I'm which?) or if I am 60 years old or 16? Or if I have some foreign sounding name? Andy T is what I would call an expert in his field, but we still give him flack because most people on the net don't know his name professionally. Would you say rude things about, say, Dennis Ritchie, another member of the net? I say names get in the way of communication. If you want to debate this point, send me mail or move it to net.flame. This topic doesn't really belong in this group, sorry for bringing it up. 4- This group (net.singles) is a pioneer for the net. It is the first group where people talk about themselves, as people, or even just talk about talking about themselves. I think this is a historic event. Wm Leler UNC - Chapel Hill
