Personally, I expect that within a month and a half after the a "personal"
subgroup was started (or personal descriptions began appearing regularly in
net.singles there would be the same sort of series of "problems" as with 
net.jokes.q  -- someone who did not intend to see this material gets offend
complains several jumps up the hierarchy which gets a manager who doesn't 
understand or appreciate the values of net-news to cut off/interfere with
a sites connection resulting in the traditional censorship vs. corporate
financing argument and risking the premature demise of net.singles and
the general confusion as some sites begin to not forward it.  I am certainly
not arguing that this sequence of events is inevitable or desirable, just
very probable.  I sat through this once with net.jokes, I really don't
want to go through with it again.   Moving the "controversial" stuff into
the ug. tree and arranging so that sites which really don't want it locally
available can pass it on painlessly and so that sites which don't want it
distributed by default can painlessly avoid doing so.
