I was not shocked by "ex-boyfriend" since I noticed that "fiance" was used
instead of "fiancee", and the reference to friends "most of which were men,"
which would make very little sense if the article were written by a male.
By the time I had gotten to any reference to "boyfriend", I was already
quite comfortable with the sex of the author (nothing intended...)
