I have long been intending to collect places that one can land
that have backpacking sites withing walking distance, or for that
matter camping of any sort withing walking distance, though
I prefer to avoid parking lots full of RVs.  Anything which fits even
loosely in to these categories I would like to hear of.  Or any publications
which anyone knows of.


Here in Illinois, which is not scenery center USA, there are surprisingly
some places to do that.  Many state parks (e.g. Red Hills) have ranger
landing strips.  If one checks the sogginess in advance, the public
is invited to use them.
