At the moment, one inch of water covers the lakebed. After the first orbit, the primary landing site will be runway 22, the concrete runway at EAFB, where STS-4 landed. From launch until the completion of orbit 1, the emergency abort site will be either White Sands Missile Range, landing site of STS-3, or the concrete strip at KSC. No delay in launch is expected.
