Careful thought and some ransacking of memory reminds me that the
Constitutional Convention was convened with the authority to revise
the Articles of Confederation, not to write an entirely new document.
While I wouldn't characterize the end product as treason, there's
no doubt that the Convention exceeded its original charter.
