to all radio amateurs bt

on november 9, fcc granted a request from the jpl amateur radio club
for a 90 day temporary waiver of section 97.113 to permit club
stations w6vio and w5rrr to manually retransmit on amateur radio
frequencies the voice communications from the space shuttle columbia.
other amateurs may retransmit the transmissions from w6vio and w5rrr,
but they may not directly pick up columbia communications and
retransmit them.  the retransmitted communications shall be for the
sole benefit of licensed amateur radio operators.  the transmissions
are limited by fcc rules, section 97.91, to quote information
bulletins consisting solely of subject matter having direct interest
to the amateur radio service as such unquote.  for this reason,
special efforts to encourage nonamateurs to listen in should be
avoided, as this could jeopardize further waivers of this nature  ar
