Most of the sponsored fusion research has been aimed at CONTAINED reactions for power-plant applications. I would like to see some effort directed at FLOW processes, which would be ideal for starship use but may be suitable for power plants too. Chemical engineers should be brought into such efforts, since they are knowledgeable in flow-like processes and energy recovery.
