I recall that recently there has been a theory proposed that, in fact,
black holes lose mass over time (albeit, very slowly).  I remember not
quite understanding the details -- but, it had something to do with the
creation of particle/anti-particle pairs.  One of the particles escapes.
Does anyone know any more about this?  Can anyone explain it to me?
