In high school, being a brilliant type I went to a specialized high school in NYC, the ratio of males to females was about 3 to 1 (and that is the best I have ever seen it, as you will see). Being to naiive to take advantage of that, and being too hung up about getting into COLLEGE, we move on to the quaint engineering school I went to. Out of 703 incoming freshman 23 were female. In those days, (GOD does that make me sound/feel old), the females were not really lavished with attention. They were thought to be strange for being at an engineering school. So, then it comes as no surprise that in the work place, we are not exactly slobbering over with women either! And CS is a field where you see more women than other engineering disciplines. This, I know , had an influence on my socializing abilities, etc. MORAL: IN MY NEXT LIFE, BOY, AM I GOING TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY!!!!! Larry S.
