In Andy Tannenbaum's last message RE: Gordon Andy mentioned the concept of
electronic pen pals.  I have already noticed that I have three close friends
who I communicate to almost exclusively via electronic mail.  We exchange
messages about once a week.  I also have three close friends with whom I
must use the regular post office service to exchange mail with.  We exchange
letters about once every month and sometimes every two months.  Telephoning
and visiting regularly is out of the question due to the distances
involved.  All the communication is social, ie. non work related.  How many
people have had similar experiences, ie. find electronic mail a better
medium for communication with social friends than US mail and the telephone?
Visiting when possible is still best.
