It's very nice to pool posessions and be one unit financially, but you have
to remember that over 1/3 of marriages end up on the rocks.  While you might
say it's the ones that are worried about money that fail, I'd like to see some
hard evidence before anybody draws conclusions.

I have seen my parents (who are each on marriage #3 now) fight bitterly
over the who gets what issue.  It would have been so much nicer if things had
been laid down when they were not so antagonistic.

People may feel that total giving is the essential prerequisite for a happy
relationship, but I think a reasonable respect for the other person's
individuality is important, too.  This means a respect for the fruits of
their life before they met you.
