(Ya' know, this is the first time I had to review a party for the world at large. It's an odd sort of thing. How many parties that you've been to would have been very different if all the participants knew that a full report would be made public?) In brief, a good time was had by all. Eighteen people showed up, nine of each gender. (I didn't plan THAT well, we just got lucky.) Most of the people present were regular netnews readers, but not all. Some of them (gasp) didn't even use UNIX (tm). Everyone present was a good cook, judging by the quality of the food. It's amazing what an AI project can whip up. Speaking of which, I'm happy to report that the prototype of the TRB project is very realistic. If it weren't for a few minor bugs, you'd almost believe it was human! (Sorry, Andy.) As of this date, no marriages have been reported based on people meeting at the PLD. The consensus was that another such event should definitely occur, though not necessarily a potluck dinner. People also thought that next time we might invite all of net.social, for variety. My personal feeling is that I'd be willing to organize another event, but not for a while. This one took an awful lot of my time. That's about all I can think of to report. You didn't expect me to reveal all the sordid details, did you?
