A  couple of years ago there were some charming pictures in the mountaineering
mag Off Belay of hands which had suffered "ring avulsion".  Really charming.
I think that anyone who works with machinery, or sticks their hands in tight
places (rock climbs for example) is crazy to wear a ring.   When the day
comes for me to face such questions I will not wear one.
