Some highlights: - There are 6 major job categories in which women have become the majority in the last decade. Those categories are insurance adjusters, examiners and investigators; bill collectors; real estate agents and brokers; photographic process workers; checkers, examiners and inspectors; and production-line assemblers. - The increases in some other categories have been dramatic: 1971 1981 ____ ____ Lawyers & judges 4% 14% physicians 9% 22% - The most dramatic increase was for engineers: 1% 4% That's a 300% inrease! (Now, guys, don't you feel better?) They go on to note, however, that "there are fewer women in engineering than in any other profession or job category. The next smallest category is delivery and route workers, a category in which women account for 9% of the total." Happy that I found one of the 4%, Paul Lustgarten Bell Labs - Indian Hill
