Depends on how important the relationship is to you.  On my mother's
side of the family, my aunt waited nine months while my uncle-to-be
was in the military in Germany, and most of their relationship before
they were married consisted of letters!  My uncle was away from his
fiancee' (who is now my aunt) for over a year in Japan, again in the
military, although none of them fought.

I will not have this problem of the military, directly; I suspect
that my fiancee'-futur will probably have to wait for me to get
out of jail for war resistance!
