Just an observation:

Have you noticed (rhetorical question; don't answer) that people seem
to prefer to date/marry others of same approximate "good looks"
measure.  To some extent, this seems to correlate somewhat with the
success of a relationship.  (I seem to remember reading this in some
psychology journal...)
