Currently I am using methyl alcohol to clean all parts
on our tape drive (head, capstan, rollers, etc.). I am
under the impression that methyl alcohol is "better" than
isopropyl alcohol for rubber parts (i.e. the capstan).
Is this true? If not, does anybody have any better
recommendations for a good safe cleaning solution for
tape drives and their parts?
