The bulk of the suggestions were to set the interrupt character to something other than but BSD treats break the same as your interrupt character regardless of what the interrupt character is so that is no help. Other suggestions were to: nohup things use emacs to control your shell and re-map characters (I assume this suffers from the above lack but I don't really know) modify the driver to treat break and interrupt separately (I like this the best and may give it a try) enable parity to try to filter out the bad characters (may help in some cases but break isn't a character in the strict sense so this doesn't work) switch to USG which already has the feature (this was accompanied by a modest amount of gloating) do something unpleasant to the Phone Company for putting the noise on the lines in the first place (has possibilities but then again I work for BTL) Steve Falco BTL WH floyd!saf (201)386-4865
