The FILEMATCH variable was intended as a way of deciding
what to do if there was no match for a file name pattern.
At the time there seemed to be three choices if no match
occured.   

   a. not execute the command,
   b. execute with no argument,
   c. execute with the pattern as argument.

It was dropped for lack of interest.
