Goodfellow Remailed-To: Info-VAX@SRI-CSL: ; Some of the recent message traffic about laser printers has presented inconsistent information about Scribe support for these devices. The purpose of this note is to provide authoritative data. Scribe supports the Imagen IMPRINT-10 laser printer by producing files in ImPress format suitable for direct shipment to the device. This support is available on DEC-10, DEC-20, VAX/VMS, VAX/Unix, Prime and Apollo systems Delivery: immediate. Support for the Symbolics laser printer will be shipped on January 5, 1983 to our first customers. At that time it will be available on all of the above systems. Support for the Xerox 2700 will also be shipped by January 5, 1983. At that time, Scribe will not produce Interpress files, but will use the font downloading and escape sequence mechanism described in the Xerox 2700 documentation. It is anticipated that this support will be made part of "basic" Scribe, but this has not yet been determined. UNILOGIC's device support policy is that we will commit to provide a device driver for any printer that can be physically connected to your computer in a maximum of 120 days. The reason that the Symbolics and Xerox 2700 drivers will be ready by next month is that they were already on order.
