Perhaps several people could take charge of different categories and someone could combine and provide a permanent home for the results. A good starting point, of course, would be the DECUS VAX SIG tapes. There's a lot of obsoleted programs and other garbage there, but also a lot of useful things. Some possible categories were mentioned by Willie Lim; here are those and some others: Languages Editors Text processing Debugging tools File handling Communications (networking, mail systems, etc) Hardware support Graphics Games (?) Applications VLSI AI Chemistry Math ..... Anyone think of any other categories? Stew
