Some information which may or may not be true:

Many Christian holidays in Europe were set up to compete with a pagan
festival. Examples: Easter/spring festival, All Saint's Day (=Halloween++)/
autumn + harvest festival, et cetera. Some saints were actually renamed pagan
gods.

Give that \really/ old time religion . . .
