	Well, I certainly have to agree with Alan Alda on this
subject.  The thing that most depresses me is that the affliction
is so common that it is presumed to be universal, a presumption
that I find very annoying and quite demeaning,  as well
as not conductive to good first impressions or eventual
friendships.  Both sexes share the guilt for this prejudice, and
both suffer accordingly.
