I am looking for a description of the interrupt priority structure
of the Unix kernel.  This would include a list of shared data
structures or resources and where they are referenced.
The idea would be to explain the bewildering assortment of
spl's sprinkled throughout the code in terms of some more easily
understandable concept such as monitors (though it would not have
to be a formal description).

My immediate need is for a description of 2.81 bsd, but a
reasonably complete description of any version would be helpful.
