This is the inaugural article for ont.singles. The primary purpose of this
newsgroup will probably turn out to be a discussion of activities of interest
to singles, in Ontario. This does not mean you shouldn't post discussions,
as in net.singles. Post whatever articles seem appropriate (at risk of
encountering flamers!).
To start things off, I'd like to ask about experiences readers may have had
answering newspaper "companions wanted" ads. A friend of mine said he
attended a brunch advertised in the Globe & Mail. He found it to be a very
positive experience. He said he met some fascinating people, of both
sexes and made at least one friend that he keeps in touch with.
Any other experiences to relate? What newspaper seems to have the most
promising ads? The Kitchener-Waterloo Record (which I read) seems to have a
lot of ads from 65-70 year old men looking for someone to clean their house!
