Goodfellow Remailed-To: Info-VAX@SRI-CSL.ARPA: ; We bought the 68000 C cross-compiler from Whitesmith to run on our VAX 11/780 running under VMS. Most of our work here involves writing software to run on prototype hardware. The listings that were generated from the compiler were so bad that we could not tell what address a particular piece of code was located at. This was critical to debugging our hardware and software using Tektronix emulators. The code that was generated did not look all that efficient but I do not have other compilers to compare it against. It is possible that we are just not setting the right compiler switches but I don't think so. If you here of anyone was has had good luck with them I would appreciate it. Also Microtec (Sunnyvale Calif) has a Pascal compiler that is to be ready in a couple of months and a C compiler by the end of the year for the 68000. We have had good luck with their assemblers, linkers and simulators. You should also check the January edition of BYTE for info on C cross-compilers. Dave Axness Boeing Aerospace Co.
