It doesn't take much footwork to come up with prices approximately: DISK: equivalent of 2 RP06 ... $17k TAPE: 1600 BPI, Vacuum Col, Rack Mount ... $8k MEMORY: 1 megabyte, 4-year warranty ... $2.4k CRT: $600 purchase, $150/year maintainence --- Service contracts being available for these non-dec items if you shop carefully, most parts having mean-time-between failure rates much better than the dec equivalents at that. No doubt the utility of buying non-dec depends on the area of the country you are in. Then too, the prices of things like floating-point accelerators are important.
